How to Make a Booklet in Microsoft Word 2010

In the document that you want to print as a booklet, click the Page Layout tab and then click the Page Setup Dialog Box Launcher.

In the dialog box, in the Multiple pages list, click Book fold.

If you want to print separate signatures that can later be bound into one book, click the number of pages that you want in each signature in the Sheets per booklet list.

Adjust the margins and, if you want, specify a margin for the gutter (so that your words don't get swallowed by the binding in the middle of a thick book).

Click OK.

If you want to have odd and even headers or footers--for example, if you want the page number on the outside corner of every page--double-click in the header or footer, and then click the Different Odd & Even Pages check box in the Options group.

Now you'll add those page numbers or headers and footers separately--one for the odd pages and one for the even pages. If you've already added a page number or a header or footer, you'll need to add it again on an even page.

If your booklet includes sections that aren't linked, select the Different Odd and Even Pages check box and add the page number, header, or footer for each section in your booklet.

Now, click the File tab, and then click Print.

If your printer supports double-sided printing, click the Print on Both Sides option that has the correct paper-flipping edge--quite likely the short edge.

If your printer supports manual duplex printing, click Manually Print on Both Sides, and then make sure that you flip the pages the right way (again, probably on the short edge).

How to Repair Error 1719 office 2010

In most cases the error can be fixed by re-registering the msiexe.exe file. Simply start a command prompt (Start menu -> Run -> type “cmd” and press Enter), and then type “msiexec /unregister” and press Enter. Next type “msiexec /regserver” and press Enter again. Now reboot the computer and see if the problem is fixed.
Note that for the 64-bit version of Windows 7, you will also need to run this command “C:\Windows\Syswow64\Msiexec /regserver” to re-register the 64-bit version of the installer.
If this does not solve the issue, try to boot Windows in Safe Mode (F8 during startup) and repeat the previous steps.
Another thing to check is if the Windows registry entry actually matches the location of the file on disk. Open the Windows registry (Start menu -> Run -> type “regedit” and press Enter), and then browse to the registry key named:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSIServer

Check the Data for a value named “ImagePath”. This should contain the folder and file name of the msiexec.exe program, followed by “/V”. So check the actual location of the file on disk, and if necessary change the path in the Windows registry. Make sure you make a backup of the registry before changing it.
The last thing to check is if the Installer service is set to run manually. For this you need to start the Services window (Start menu -> Run -> type “services.msc” and press Enter). Scroll down to the Windows Installer service and check if Startup Type is set to Manual. If this is not the case, then right-click it, and in the popup menu select Properties. Next, change the Startup type to Manual and click OK. Again it is best you restart your PC before trying to install or uninstall software again.

This will set the installer service to manual installation, as some software programs do not install if the installer service is already running. Keep in mind that you might need to set it to Automatic again for installation of other programs.
If you find nothing helps, you can also try to download and reinstall the Windows Installer from the Microsoft website, but this would normally only help in Windows XP and Windows 2003 server as Vista and Windows 7 already include that version of the installer.
In the 64-bit edition of Windows 7, there is one more thing to try, which is related to the WOW64 entry in the same registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSIServer
Look up the WOW64 entry and double-click it to be able to modify it. Change the value from 1 to 0, and then use the Services window to Stop and Start the Windows Installer service. After that try the installation again.

How To Repair Error 1704

Step 1 – Restart Your PC & Try Installing Again

If you clicked “NO” to undoing the changes, then you will have to restart you computer. Then you can attempt the installation again, but this time, use the second CD provided by Microsoft Office installer.

However, if you clicked “YES” to undoing the changes, then proceed to step 2.

Step 2 – Exit Setup & Perform “Repair” Installation Of Office

Microsoft prepared a feature that will provide a fix for installation issues of Office. You have to access the “Repair Office” to resolve the error. Do this by doing the following:

Let the Office setup finish and when a reboot is prompted, click YES
Exit Maintenance Mode if it is still running after Windows Startup
Click CANCEL for the Maintenance Mode box
Click “YES” if you are prompted to exit Setup or click “OK” if prompted that Setup is cancelled
Leave the current Setup to finish the process
Repair the installation by going to START menu > Control Panel
Click Add/Remove Programs > Repair Office
Select the option for “Repair Errors in my Office Installation” and press “Finish” afterwards.

Reminder: you need to reboot the computer every time you run Setup so it can completely finish the installation process in your computer.
Step 3 – Clean Out The “Registry” Of Windows

    Download This Registry Cleaner

The registry usually contains the faulty pieces of settings, data or files that make errors occur. To fix the existing issue in the database involves modifying parts of it, and this is a delicate task that requires an appropriate tool: Frontline registry cleaner. It fixes up to 99% registry issues and is the recommended tool by experts.

How To Recover An Unsaved MS Word 2010 Document In Seconds

Even with the right MS Office etiquette in place, documents disappear from the screen before you can save them. The notorious Windows system crash or your house power on the blink could cause you to lose your work before you can click on save. Lot of times we also tend to close an unsaved document after taking a printout. So, how can you recover that unsaved MS Office document and restore your work (and also save yourself from a hair-tearing apoplectic attack)?
We turn to a little Microsoft Office 2010 feature that lets us recover document drafts in a second.

Bringing Back The Draft

Here’s my open MS Word document that will be taken through some deliberate steps to demonstrate the ‘life-saving’ feature that’s present in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint (MS Office 2010 only).

After closing the Word file unwittingly, open up a new MS Word document again. Go to File – Info – Manage Versions. Click on the little dropdown and select Recover Unsaved Documents. In Excel 2010 click on Recover Unsaved Workbooks or Recover Unsaved Presentations if you are in PowerPoint 2010.

MS Word opens the location where a copy of the draft resides.

Now, it’s just a matter of selecting the draft, opening it up as a fresh MS Word document and saving it properly using the Save As button on the business bar at the top of the document; something which we ‘forgot ‘to do the last time around. Copies of unsaved documents are kept for four days and then they are automatically deleted.

While opening the unsaved document, you can also make use of the Open& Repair feature for troubleshooting documents that might have got corrupted or damaged.

You can browse to the following file locations to open the file manually, depending on your operating system:
Windows 7/Windows Vista: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\<Application_Name>
Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\<username> \Application Data\Microsoft\<App Name>
Saving of drafts takes place automatically in all applications within MS Office. The Auto Recover option kicks in if the document has been open for some period of time. You can easily change the Auto recover interval by going to File – Options – Save. The default is 10 minutes as indicated under – Save AutoRecover Information. I prefer setting it to a more frequent 3 – 5 minutes. Remember that AutoRecover may be a lifesaver, but it is not a substitute for the good habit of regularly saving your file while you are working on it.

AutoRecover is a feature to rely on and more often than not it will help save you from all that can go wrong while working on a long document. Microsoft Office 2010 makes it slightly easier to get back an unsaved document than the earlier versions of Office. If you are still on MS Office 2007, check out how you can use AutoRecover to come to your rescue. We have a substantial lineup of other MS Word tips for you. Were you aware of this one?

Create the Timeline View in Microsoft Project 2010

Detailed project schedules are great, but when it comes to communicating major milestones, phases, or tollgates to customers, executives, and even the project team, simplicity is key. Despite all the project management systems, spreadsheets, and templates available to project managers, it is still easier to communicate a project timeline with pictures.
Experienced project managers are familiar with the concept of a simple milestone chart or a high-level Gantt chart that depicts the project timeline. Prior to Microsoft Project 2010, I always created a milestone chart using Microsoft PowerPoint or a drawing tool such as Microsoft Visio. Developing a milestone chart in PowerPoint or Visio is an administrative challenge because each milestone needs to be adjusted and tweaked as the project schedule changes. I would waste a good hour moving milestone icons, adjusting dates, and changing the text to properly fit the custom milestone chart. Now I save myself a lot of hassle by using the Microsoft Project 2010 Timeline View

The Timeline View provides an overview of the project schedule and lets you select only the tasks and milestones that need to be communicated. This is very different from filtering the Gantt chart to display only the milestones and the summary tasks. I can pick any summary task, milestone, or individual task and depict it in the Timeline View. Since the view is automatically created based on the project data, any changes in the dates are immediately reflected in the Timeline View. I save a lot of time and develop a meaningful chart based on changing project schedule data.
In Figure A, I color-coded the specific phases based on the respective project teams. I can also color-code the milestones or individual tasks to reflect complete, on schedule, at risk, or late milestones. Tasks can be depicted as bars in the view or as individual call outs. Adding and removing tasks is simple, and the entire view can be copied and pasted into an email or status report.

Creating the Timeline View

Follow these steps to create the Timeline View:
1. Select the View tab.
2. Click the Timeline checkbox. A blank timeline window will appear

3. Find a milestone in your project schedule.
4. Right-click the task and select Add to Timeline

5. The milestone will appear on the Timeline View.
Repeat this five-step process for summary tasks, individual tasks, or groups of tasks.
When all the necessary tasks have been added to the Timeline View, you can use the Format menu to color-code the bars or change the way the tasks are displayed

You can also insert new tasks or milestones directly into the Timeline View.

How to Fix Error Code 0x8007232b for Windows 7

Instructions

Method 1:-

  1. Right click on All Programs, click Accessories, and then right-click Command Prompt
  2. Click Run as administrator. You may need to enter an administrator password to continue if you are not logged in as an administrator.
  3. Type  slmgr.vbs -ipk xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx at the command line, where xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx  is the MAK product key that you have for the operating system installation. Then press Enter. The format of the product key must be exact.
  4. If the activation is successful, you will get a message similar to the one shown below although it can look different in different version of the windows operating system.
If that doesn’t work, try Method 2.

Method 2:-

Perform the following steps to verify that a KMS server is installed and registered in DMS:
  • From a command prompt type:
  • nslookup -type=all _vlmcs._tcp>kms.txt
  • Open the KMS.txt file and check to see if it contains information similar to the following:

    _vlmcs._tcp.yourdomain.com       SRV service location:
                      priority       = 0
                      weight         = 0
                      port           = 1688
                      svr hostname   = kms-server.yourdomain.com
  • If these “_vlmcs” entries are present, the KMS server is running and registered with the DNS server. By default, this registry key has an undefined value that results in the dynamic registration every 24 hours.
  • At this point you should be able to login in and start using the product.
  • If the KNS.txt file does not contain entries similar to those above, you need to notify you network administrator of the problem.
If the entries do exist and you still can’t activate your operating system or you are a home user, you will need to call Microsoft’s help desk and explain the problem. They will give you an activation code over the phone to type in that will activate the operating system.

If you have tried all the suggested solutions from Microsoft and had no luck. Try to change the plug and play service's security descriptor using the SC tool. It worked for me. First, make sure you can execute sc.exe on your machine. If you do not have it, you can download it from Microsoft site. Then run the SC tool from the command prompt.
C:\>sc sdshow plugplay
You will get a security descriptor for the service. Copy it and append (A;;CCLCSWLOCRRC;;;SU) to the string. Use the new string to update the service's security.
C:\>sc sdset plugplay <whatever string you copied>(A;;CCLCSWLOCRRC;;;SU)
Now try to activate your office 2010 again.

How to Setup Microsoft Communicator

1.Install the Microsoft Office Communicator software if it is not already installed. The installation process is mostly automated; all you have to do is insert the installation CD-ROM or open the setup.exe file (depending on how you purchased the software) and follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation. At the end of this process, you will be prompted to reboot the system.

2.Install the Outlook software if it is not already installed. Microsoft Office Communicator cannot function without a working version of Outlook, because it is dependent on Outlook for the management of the contacts list. The considerations for the installation of Communicator in Step 1 also apply to the installation of Outlook.
3.Launch Outlook from its icon on the Start menu.

4.Double-click the "Contacts" folder in the main Outlook window to open it. Review your list of contacts, as these will be (or already are) the contacts that will be automatically imported into Communicator.

5.Add new contacts to your Outlook contact list if you want to be able to communicate with them using Communicator. To do this, click the "New Contact" button within the Outlook Contact folder and fill in the information fields that pop up. When you are finished adding new contacts, you may close Outlook.

6.Launch Communicator from its icon on the Start menu.

7.Add your desired Outlook contacts and distribution groups to your Communicator contact list. To do this, begin typing the name of a contact or distribution group into the search field near the top of the Communicator window. Communicator will begin suggesting partial matches immediately. When you see the contact or distribution group you're searching for, left-click the entry and drag it to the main panel toward the bottom of the Communicator window. Repeat this process for all contacts and groups you wish to add.

8.Organize your Communicator contacts into groups so that you can contact an entire group at once. To do this, right-click anywhere within the main Communicator panel and select New Group from the options. When the new group entry pops up, enter a name for the group and press "Enter." Then left-click and drag any desired contacts from your contact list into this group. This step is not required, but is helpful if you have an entire team or group of people that you may need to contact simultaneously.

9.Add your other phone numbers, such as your mobile number, if desired. To do this, click the "Menu" button at the top of the Communicator window, and then select the "Tools" option. Click the "Options" button; then select the "Phones" tab. On the Phones tab, you will see buttons for different types of phones. Click the one that applies to the number you want to add; then enter the number when prompted. Finally, click the "Publish" button if you want this information to be available to your other Communicator contacts. When you are done, you may close the Tools window.

10.Customize the level of contact you wish to have with any contacts in your Communicator list. To do this, right-click on the name of any contact or group in the main panel and select "Change Level of Access." This will open up a window detailing your access levels and what each level grants to the contact. Close this window when you have selected your desired level of contact.

How To Insert A Comment Word 2010

To add a comment in a 2010 document, you need to first select the part of text on which you wish to comment. Then, on the Ribbon, click the Reviewtab and the New Comment button in the Comments group.

As soon as you do so, a balloon highlighting the selected text is displayed in the specially extended right margin. In this balloon, you can now enter your comment.

You will notice that the balloon displays the initials of your name. This is very necessary to have, as when different people add comments, each of them can easily know who else have added comments.
As a reviewer, you can add as many comments as required in the document. When you tend to add more comments, the balloon will show the comment number as well after the initials so that you know how many comments have been added by you in a document.
